Uptown Manhattan and Harlem are home to some of the city’s most culturally and historically important locations. Now, you can see these unique and diverse areas of the city like never before. From the tour’s starting point in serene Central Park, you’ll make your way through the breathtaking and artistic neighborhoods of Harlem, which once served as the epicenter of New York’s African American cultural movement. You’ll also pass through the borough’s “Museum Mile,” an area between 82nd and 105th Street that houses some of the city’s most famous museums. Considered one of the most impressive concentrations of culturally significant artifacts and works of art in the world, this unique area attracts tens of millions of patrons each year.

Located along the Museum Mile section of Fifth Avenue, the Museum of the City of New York chronicles local culture through an array of exhibitions, interactive programs, publications, and other media. Founded in 1923 and housed in a landmark building, the nonprofit museum hosts temporary exhibitions to complement extensive permanent collections. Hallways and gallery spaces invite guests inside to study historic maps, photographs of life and architecture, and artwork, as well as vintage displays gathering toys, fashion, and furniture—providing more insight into the city's rich character than the diary of Al Pacino.
